Rainbow Wind Sock

C made this rainbow "wind sock" a while ago and he loves it so much it's kept in the car.  He likes to hold it when driving and watch the crepe paper move with the bumps, or if the windows are open.  It's such a simple thing, but it makes him very happy.
Materials:
Paper plate
Glue stick (or any adhesive on hand)
Scissors
Crepe paper/ tissue paper (preferably in several colors)
(Optional) Decorating materials such as stickers or markers

Directions:
1. Cut a handle in the paper plate
2. Decorate paper plate as desired
3. Cut crepe paper in five pieces, approx 12" lengths
4. Glue to back of plate

Tips:
-Glue stick is what we used and it's holding strong to this day.  It's fast drying too!
-Make this educational by putting the colors in order, talking about a rainbow or wind.
-Allow your child to complete as much of this as they can on their own.  Try not to step in unless truly necessary.
Here's a variation that C created when he saw Thomas the Tank Engine.  Additional supplies needed: paper or coloring sheet instead of plate, string, and a stapler or tape to attach the string.

I would love to hear from you if you made your own rainbow wind sock!
