Displaying Children's Artwork

What do you do with your child's artwork?

C isn't of school age yet, but he's a budding artist if I do say so myself.  I don't hang on to every piece since many look the same, but I know they're each special in their own way and represent this time in his life.  So, yes, I'm guilty (as I guess many of you are) of throwing away many, many pictures, doodles, and projects.

I'm not about the same old.  I like unique ideas.  Here I have many ranging from basic to pricey.  I hope you find something that works for you.  If you have another idea I'd love to hear it!  We can all use more ideas!

*Display on a bulletin board or strip for each child in a dedicated area that is changed on a regular basis.

*Display on a wall painted with magnetic paint.  Add magnets.

*Hang a piece of wire, twine, yarn, a curtain rod or other material across a wall and use clothespins or other decorative clips to attach the artwork.  Hang a couple at different heights to expand your display.  Work of art clips are available for purchase if you want this idea without the effort, 14.95.  Ikea also offers a metal wire cable with clips sold separately.

*Photograph and make into a photo book every year or couple of years. There is also a scanning service of some kind online that then makes the photos available to anyone you want to share them with.  I'd love it if anyone could share that site with me.  It's not cheap, but another idea out there.

*Cut a portion of each piece to fit a frame you have on hand (or into interesting shapes and place in a "floating" frame).  This will highlight a more interesting portion of the piece and allow you to prominently display in your child's room, on a shelf, or anywhere!

*Stick to the wall using re-positionable wall decals such as this set of 48 that come in flowers, corners, splats or circles at $7.49.  For a more refined, but pricey option at petit collage, you can get circles or gallery corners for $18 plus shipping for a set of 40. Note: contact them to get a more economical rate on shipping if interested.

*Frame using Lil Davinci Art Cabinets.  Available in two sizes 8 1/2 x 11" and 12 x 18"From Amazon: This unique art cabinet will display and store 50 cherished masterpieces. Simply lift the latch to open the door, push the artwork into the spring-loaded pocket, re-latch the glass door, and your display is instantly refreshed! Their older creations are stored behind their newest artistic endeavor.  Pair a couple together for multiple children or to create an organized wall of art.  These run 32.95 and 42.96 respectively.  Not the most cost effective option, but certainly the coolest in my book.  Hint, hint for those reading.

Note: I have a follow-up post with another idea you can find here.
