Handprint Turkeys

I remember making handprint turkeys growing up.

I love that it's a fun activity that also captures something personal- a child's hand.

We used different colors of paint on the finger and body, added the gobbler, an eye, and some feet.

I realized afterwards that Turkeys have beaks.  Maybe I can go back and add them.

Here's C's turkey wonderfully displayed.  See more ideas on Displaying Children's Artwork here and here.

You could also trace their hand on construction paper and add additional colored "feathers" with glue.  Consider using actual feathers, or beady eyes.  Use your imagination.

I plan to use the extra "turkeys" to make thank you cards to give to family over Thanksgiving.

C loved this activity.  He loves anything involving paint.   He cooperated well and got to paint a few additional masterpieces afterwards.

Remember, everything can be used as a learning tool.  Discuss colors, turkeys, or Thanksgiving.  If they don't know, tell them and they will learn to recognize the colors or understand the animal/ holiday.
