Advent Calendars Part 1 (of 2)

I'm not a fan of the chocolate advent calendars out there.  What I do like are ones that can be adapted to teach children (even ourselves) something about Christmas.  Ones that allow a scripture to be inserted, or other token for remembrance of the "lesson" for the day.

I saw each of these and it inspired me to create my own advent calendar.  Something I've been wanting to do for some time.  Come back next week to see mine!

See below for several ideas to get you started.

Pennant Advent Calendar- tuck scripture or tokens inside

Christmas Lights- Stuff-able garland or advent calendar

Tree Advent Calendar- Use paint chips, card stock or whatever you have on hand!

Clip It- Clip gifts, shapes, anything.

If you're a fan of giving little gifts each day you should check this one out.
Or this one!  I'd adapt it to include a nativity scene- or anything else your heart desires!

I thought this Clock was unique!

Way cool Primitive Countdown, but super pricey.

I really like this reusable wall Advent Calendar

My favorite economical Art Advent Calendar
I'm thinking this might be a great activity to do under the tree too!  Wrap up a book or other practical activity for each day.  I'm totally "stealing" this one.

Wood Christmas Tree Advent Calendar - Sorry, no photo, but still worth checking out.

Fisher-Price has a nativity advent calendar that I purchased last year on sale.  They have three available this year.  Take a look here

And of course if you are able or don't have the time to make one you can purchase advent calendars all over.  Consider all the other etsy advent calendars for a wide variety of unique handmade ones!

Don't forget- the next post will be my creation!  I can't wait to share!
