Nursery/ Child's Room Decor

I've received a lot of comments on the decor in C's room and many friends have passed this idea on to others.  I hope it too provides you with inspiration.

First, I picked a gender neutral bedding with colors of green, light blue, navy, black, and white.  From there I was thinking of what I could do for artwork that would grow with C.

Prior to the canvas trend that's so hot these past two years...

I picked up individual canvases at Michaels every time I had a 40% off coupon.  I also scoured Wal-mart for the paint.

Initially all I did was paint each white canvas a coordinating or matching color from the bedding.  Note: Be sure to include a color NOT in the bedding (but that still coordinates) to make the wall art pop a little more.  I chose yellow.

After C was born I put the corresponding parent's footprints on the canvases using a contrasting color that was already used on a different canvas.  Eventually I added one of C's footprints and added the date on the front with a silver sharpie.  A year plus later I did handprints.  Each wall has two prints of the date- a right and a left.

My plan is to rearrange the canvases into a different pattern and overall art piece as he gets older.  If desired I have two of each print so I can gift one to a grandparent or other relative.  Or I can simply display the ones with the prints by themselves.  The point is, it offers a lot of flexibility.

A couple additional notes on the project:
*Be sure the canvas is large enough for the adult foot!
*Use foot prints first, because there is absolutely no way you will get a decent hand print of any child under 14 months+.  If you do it's a miracle.
*If you mess up when getting prints try to wipe off as much of the print as possible.  If needed you can always paint over the area.
*Don't worry about overlapping prints.  If it does bother you then be sure to get wider canvases.
