White Vinegar

It's cheap and it's useful.  You can also buy it everywhere.

This is another post where you'll either be amazed or saying you've done that for years.  I hope many find it useful.

Try replacing your dishwasher's rinse aid with white vinegar (a large percentage of what you're paying for is actually vinegar- just look at the bottle).

Add 1/4 to 1/2 cup of white vinegar to the bleach section (or however you would normally add bleach) of your washer to help keep your whites white. It will also remove the dingy smell from wet clothes or a stinky washer.  Additionally, it will reduce static-cling (reduce- NOT eliminate).

I thought the following was a genius idea, but it didn't work for me.  Any tips?  Something I'm missing?  I used six cups on a bunch of socks.
Whites not so white and no amount of washing will help?  Boil 1 cup white vinegar and add clothing/ towels.  Soak overnight.

I also heard (not sure if on the below site) that you can use vinegar and a toothbrush to clean your grout!  I wish I had known this years ago.

In fact I know many people also use it for cleaning.  Personally I can't get past the smell, but I thought I would find some additional tips/ recipes for it's use and came upon this site that has 1001 vinegar tips.  Read on here.

  1. Thank you! I am always looking for ideas with vinegar. I did the vinegar in the dish washer a few months ago and it did wonders!
I would also love to clean with it everywhere in the house but the smell gets to me. I guess if I do little by little I will get used to it?

  2. Glad you enjoyed reading! I believe you can add some essential oils to help with the scent issue. I'm not sure how much though and essential oils aren't cheap.
