I'm So Over Crayons

I had a recent discovery and am now so over crayons.

Crayons are great because they're cheap, but they don't work well on all paper and you kind of have to press hard to get good color.  They also break.

In come Crayola Slick Stix.  They're like super slick pastel crayons.  They have covers and twist up like other Crayola twistable products.  So they're not very likely to break, are larger around for small hands, and require no pressure.  They also have GREAT color.  I love using them on constriction paper- especially black!  The silver and gold colors really shimmer too.  The only downfalls I see are that the covers are hard to get off and I really don't know if they're washable.

I had a hard time finding them in town.  In fact the only place that had them (I didn't check the local office supply store) was Michaels.  They were 9.99 for a 12 pack.  But with a 40% off coupon (printable online pretty much every week) it brought them down to about six dollars.  Six dollars is still a lot for "crayons," but the fact that they're less likely to break, and are so much more fun to work with makes it worth it in my book.  Consider buying them for a preschooler or any age child you know instead of the usual crayons.

They're a great alternative to markers if you have "marker phobia" like some of my friends.  Although, Crayola washable markers really do wash off of everything.

And for the record- C loves Crayola Slick Stix too.  :-)

If you can't find them in your area you can also purchase them online here.

Do you have these and like them?  I'd love to hear your opinions.
